Schweitzer's ethic of Reverence for Life was conceived whilst sitting on a boat traveling up the river Oguowe in the Gabon, pondering a way forward for humankind. Living this ethic is our reason for being and embodies everything that we strive to achieve through our charitable actions.

Relationship with the British Isles

In the early 1920s Dr. Schweitzer set up the UK 'Fund' to help support his hospital in Lambarene. Out of this grew RfLUK.
