DAY SEVEN:

Reverence for Life is:

GOING THE EXTRA MILE WHEN AND WHERE A NEED ARISES

In our busy lives it is often difficult to find time to focus on and acknowledge the needs of others, especially if this is likely to impose further demands on our own time and energy.  And in a world where dire need surrounds us on all sides, it is hard not to be overwhelmed and to select what is within our own capabilities.

-  We cannot solve all the world’s problems.  But if we remain open and take time to listen to our inner voice, we know when something touches us deeply.  And a little help can go a long way.

- Albert Schweitzer once wrote words to the effect that  “no ray of sunshine is ever lost or remains ineffective, and in Springtime, when the meadows turn green, it is because small amounts of sap rise in every single, individual blade of grass”;

Like Portia’s mercy, the quality of empathy and altruism…

”...is not strained. It dropeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed: It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.”
