Eva Mkane, a VALITA volunteer, is teaching the community at Kaya how to make Batik fabric.
Eva began learning how to make Batik fabric on a course at Sanaa, a project in Tanzania where disabled artists create unique products from recycled waste. Since then, she has continued to develop her craft and now makes fabric with a group of women to generate funds to support the charitable projects of VALITA and help people in need.
Eva learnt many new craft and business skills at Sanaa. She works with a group of widows in Mbopo and Tegete to give business advice and supports them to earn money for their families.
She would love to one day set up a market stall to sell her beautiful batik pieces and run more workshops at Kaya.
