Training Centre

The next phase of developing Bustani ya Binadamu is to set up a training centre which teaches permaculture courses and runs workshops in traditional craft skills.

The VALITA members that manage the land are keen to pass their knowledge onto others and become a centre for championing Permaculture in Tanzania. The people in VALITA’s outreach programme host a wealth of traditional craft skills such as, palm mat weaving, batik dyeing and soap making. The training centre will employ people to teach workshops and make high-quality craft products for sale.

This project will:

  • Create a revenue stream which will improve the financial sustainability of VALITA.
  • Provide jobs for people in the community.
  • Promote the ecological principles of Permaculture.
  • Protect the traditional craft skills that are being lost and not passed onto the next generation.
